Chapter 71
Theodore Lowell's gaze burned into Evelyn Roland.
The young woman before him had skin like fresh snow and almond-shaped eyes clear as spring water.
What shocked him most was discovering his daughter's illness was actually drug-induced asthma.
He'd long been wary of the undercurrents within the Lowell family, but never imagined someone would poison their food.
This Ms. Roland was truly the Lowells' guardian angel.
"You're absolutely right, Ms. Roland. Natalie never had asthma attacks before her senior year. Then she started dating that man. We objected at first, but she insisted."
"That bastard disappeared after learning Natalie's identity. Now he refuses to divorce her. I hope you can provide evidence so I can file for divorce."
These past few days since Natalie returned home, color had finally returned to her cheeks.
She'd even cooked meals for them herself.
Watching his once pampered princess bustling about the kitchen twisted Theodore's heart.
Evelyn suddenly remembered Isabella Langley demanding evidence.
Could the "Mr. Lowell" she mentioned be standing right before her?
Pregnancy brain, she chided herself silently.
She forwarded the video to Theodore.
"Natalie will sleep deeply tonight. I'll prepare the medication now. Please excuse me."
Theodore smiled warmly. "Meeting you was Natalie's good fortune. Once she recovers, I'll repay you properly."
Evelyn met his fatherly gaze impassively. "We'll discuss that later."
"Let my driver take you."
Remembering Scarlett was waiting at the Imperial Palace Hotel, Evelyn nodded. "To the Imperial Palace, please."
Theodore personally escorted her to the elevator.
Back in the hospital room, he opened the video.
Daniel Sherwood's cold indifference as he abandoned Natalie pierced Theodore's heart.
But what horrified him more was recognizing Isabella as the woman who kicked his daughter aside.
Now he understood why Isabella had been so evasive.
She was the fraud who stole credit for saving Natalie.
Watching his sleeping daughter, Theodore's blood boiled.
After arranging security, he stormed out with his men.
Evelyn had just reached the hotel lobby when rapid footsteps echoed behind her.
Protecting her belly, she retreated toward the staircase.
Theodore and his bodyguards burst in—just as Adrian Valentine and Isabella Langley stood laughing by the entrance.
