Chapter 453

"There was another accomplice." Christian Lefèvre's voice was hoarse. "A man with a clover tattoo on the back of his neck."

"He controlled the projector to make Adrian Valentine see Isabella Langley impersonating Evelyn Roland setting the fire."

"After Isabella knocked me out with a baseball bat, I fought to stay conscious. I saw Adrian walk in. I saw him witness that carefully staged deception."

"The real arsonist was the tattooed man. The explosion came too fast. I barely stayed awake. Later, Evelyn arrived and rescued Adrian. That murder attempt put me in a coma for three years."

Isabella suddenly shrieked, "Christian! You're lying! It was Evelyn who tried to kill you!"

Her face twisted as she hysterically shook the railing. "You loved me so much. How could you frame me? Take it back!"

Christian turned away in disgust. Back then, he'd been fooled by Isabella's sweet lies, even defended her. He never knew the truth about her relationship with Evelyn.

"I'm telling the truth," Christian sneered.

Murderous intent flashed in Isabella's eyes. She hadn't expected this useless man to still be alive.

"Ah—" She let out a piercing scream before turning tearful eyes to Adrian. "Adrian, please believe me..."

Her voice trembled. "Evelyn did it. Won't you testify for me?"

Adrian finally snapped out of his daze. So Isabella had been the mastermind behind the explosion three years ago.

Evelyn suddenly understood everything. Isabella's elaborate scheme to kill her must be connected to her true origins.

Just as this thought crossed her mind, a guard rushed in. "Captain Laurent, someone's here to confess."

"He claims he's the real culprit who tried to kill Christian Lefèvre years ago."

Christian frowned. "If it's the tattooed man, then yes, he lit the fire. But Isabella was the mastermind. I heard her planning it myself."

A flicker of hope appeared in Isabella's eyes. Had her father or Warren Garten sent this person?

Her lawyer immediately objected. "Uncorroborated testimony is unreliable."

"I'm the eyewitness!" Christian slammed the table. "Isn't the victim's account enough?"

Isabella suddenly turned to the jury, tears welling up. "He's doing this because I rejected his proposal..."

"How can someone who was comatose for three years have reliable memories? This is clearly a setup!"
