Chapter 219

Isabella Langley immediately stood up when she heard Warren Garten had arrived. "Adrian, I'll take my leave now. I don't want to disturb your work. Don't forget our dinner tonight."

Adrian Valentine responded without looking up.

Once Isabella was gone, Victor Ashcroft closed the door.

He lowered his voice. "Sir, something's off about the Ashcroft family matter. I investigated—Vincent Ashcroft Jr. was only with Isabella Langley yesterday. Either she sent that video to the Macmillans, or someone secretly recorded it. But I found no evidence linking her to the leak."

"The Macmillans are keeping tight-lipped."

He suspected Vincent Langley and his daughter were behind this.

Adrian smirked. "Vincent Jr. was a fool. He has no one to blame but himself. This lesson will make him grow. His father will discipline him properly."

"What has Vincent Langley been up to lately?"

Victor replied, "Diamond mining, in partnership with Mr. Harrison. Alexander Durand was truly a genius—he pinpointed the vein just from a few photographs. But a new underworld faction has emerged. They robbed Langley's diamond shipment today."

He couldn't help asking, "Sir, why didn't Evelyn give you those maps?"

Adrian's gaze turned icy. Those were her deepest scars. How could she ever reveal them?

"I'll get what I want, with or without those blueprints. Evelyn handed the maps to Vincent Langley for a reason. She's investigating Alexander's death and won't confront Langley yet. When he adopted her all those years ago, he must have had ulterior motives."

"Our priority is uncovering the truth about my father's death. With his diamonds stolen, Langley will pressure me to marry Isabella."

Victor frowned, thinking of the mysterious faction. "Should we investigate them, sir?"

Adrian narrowed his eyes. "No need. It's either Sebastian Cortez or Alexander's people. Monitor the situation closely."

"Will Zachary Deross return tomorrow?"

Victor nodded eagerly. "Yes, first thing in the morning."

Finally, he could catch his breath.

He'd been running himself ragged lately.

Tomorrow, he would rest properly.

Adrian shattered that dream with his next words. "Once Zachary's back, he'll handle covert operations. You keep watching Vincent Langley."

Then he returned to his work.

Victor's eyes widened.

Had he heard correctly?

So Zachary's return changed nothing for him?

Absolutely nothing!

He stared at Adrian's focused profile and sighed inwardly. He wasn't bad-looking—just terrible at sweet-talking.

His inability to charm the boss meant endless overtime.

Even his dates got interrupted for emergencies. When would he ever find a girlfriend?

What was a man's greatest sorrow?

No time for love. No time for relationships.

"Oh, sir, I ran into Evelyn downstairs earlier. She went out with Scarlett Orlando and that actor Lucien Valentine—the one who got hit by the car."

Adrian looked up. "Silence Lucien. Isabella's contract killing must never leak."
