Chapter 181

Victor's expression was grave as he reported, "Mr. Valentine, I've searched Vienna for anyone named Evelyn Roland. There's no trace of your wife."

"The only possibility is that she's living in employee housing under Sterling Manor. Those residences don't require personal registration."

"Moreover, she's always transported by private chauffeurs. Last year it was a female driver. Now it's this man."

Victor handed over his phone, displaying Zachary Deross—the same man they'd seen at the hospital.

Adrian's gaze turned icy. Why were there always handsome men around her?

"Keep digging. I need her exact address."

Adrian turned away, his rigid shoulders radiating suppressed fury.

Victor sighed inwardly. Wasn't he the one who'd insisted on driving her away? Now he's desperate to find her.

The man simply couldn't swallow his pride.

Served him right.

Humming a tune, Victor headed to his meeting.

Then he froze mid-step.

Today's agenda? The real estate collaboration with Sterling Manor.

He grabbed his hair in frustration.

Mocking the boss felt great—until you remembered who signed your paychecks.

......

Evelyn circled Scarlett's studio twice before locating the entrance.

She didn't notice Adrian trailing behind her.

Finding the door ajar, she pushed inside.

"Evelyn!" Scarlett launched herself at her friend, arms wide. Snacks covered the worktable.

Evelyn gasped for air in the crushing hug. "Trying to kill your best friend?"

"Try these lemon chicken feet! I saved them just for you." Scarlett thrust forward chopsticks like presenting treasure.

Evelyn wrinkled her nose. "Do you know how many miles I'd have to run to burn one of these off?"

"I've gained two kilos!"

Scarlett waved a dismissive hand. "Food first, diets later."

Surveying the calorie-laden spread, Evelyn's scalp prickled.

"Scarlett, you'll lose me this way."

"Nonsense!" Scarlett shoved a cake slice into her hands. "We get fat together, we get pretty together."

Evelyn took a reluctant bite. "You're dragging me down with you."

"Naturally!" Scarlett's eyes sparkled. "You'll be my maid of honor, and I'll be yours!"

Evelyn suddenly set down her fork. "Did Sebastian mention when he's returning from abroad?"

Scarlett's smile vanished instantly.
