Chapter 266
"Thank you, Isabella." Her eyes glistened as she clenched the money tightly in her palm.
Eleanor Langley frowned slightly but remained silent.
This girl certainly knew how to win people over—even the Roland women were wrapped around her finger.
A black sedan pulled up slowly, and everyone got in.
...
Outside the window, the night was pitch black. Adrian Valentine stared absently at the falling snowflakes.
"Still no leads on Evelyn's whereabouts?" he asked abruptly.
Victor Ashcroft's grip on the steering wheel tightened.
He had no answer to that.
"Sir, we truly haven't found anything," he murmured, his voice barely audible.
A deep longing churned in Adrian's eyes.
The image of her fleeing in panic tonight haunted him relentlessly.
"I'm getting engaged to Isabella in three days."
A sharp screech of brakes pierced the air.
Victor whipped his head around. "Sir, if you go through with this, it's over between you and Evelyn!"
Adrian's gaze remained fixed on the window, icy and distant.
"That viper Isabella isn't fit to even breathe the same air as Evelyn. Your so-called protection will only hurt her more."
Adrian closed his eyes briefly. "Drive."
Victor gritted his teeth.
This stubborn fool would regret it.
As the car started moving again, Adrian spoke suddenly. "The engagement ceremony must be disrupted."
Victor's eyes lit up. "Sabotage is my specialty!"
"Leave no traces."
"Don't worry, it'll be flawless." Victor grinned.
Adrian smirked coldly. "You can't even find my wife, yet you boast?"
Victor's smile froze.
The burn came too fast.
"Make it happen tonight." A dangerous glint flashed in Adrian's eyes.
Victor's palms grew damp with excitement.
Evelyn, I'll hold your place for you!
He stole a glance at Adrian through the rearview mirror. "Sir, if we could locate that driver—"
"Not yet." A sudden chill radiated from Adrian. "Grandmother always said there's a traitor in the Valentine family."
Victor's heart skipped a beat.
If that were true... the late chairman's death was even more tragic.
...
Isabella Langley lay limp on the bed, too exhausted to lift a finger.
Warren Garten held her, thoroughly satisfied. "Heard you're engaged to Adrian Valentine?"
