Chapter 417
Inside the private lounge.
The crystal chandelier cast a cold glow as Adrian Valentine tapped the table with his slender fingers.
Isabella Langley gazed at him with infatuation.
"Adrian, is there really no chance for us?"
His lips curled into a mocking smile. "Miss Langley, time to wake up from your fantasy."
The icy contempt in his eyes made her shiver.
"We're not blood-related! My father's actions have nothing to do with me!"
Adrian's fingers stilled.
"That's your problem."
Isabella clenched and unclenched her fists. "Can't you let go of vengeance? Isn't our love enough?"
A low chuckle escaped him.
"Your father murdered mine, and you expect me to forget?"
Tears welled in her eyes. "But I love you!"
He flung his phone before her.
"Love?" His voice dripped with disdain. "See how well you entertained your driver."
Obscene sounds erupted from the device.
Isabella turned deathly pale. "This is a setup! It must be Evelyn!"
Adrian's face twisted in disgust.
"Your driver had a recording fetish."
The revelation struck her like lightning.
She suddenly remembered the earlier blackmail.
"He forced me!"
Adrian stood, adjusting his cuffs.
"Not my concern."
Her eyes darkened with malice.
"Then I'll tell the Lefèvres that Evelyn killed Christian!"
Murderous intent radiated from Adrian instantly.
Meanwhile.
At the club entrance.
A noblewoman blocked Evelyn's path.
"You're Evelyn Roland?"
Evelyn narrowed her eyes. "Yes."
The woman raised her hand to strike.
Sophia Blanchet seized her wrist like lightning.
"Looking to die?" Sophia's gaze turned glacial.
Tears streamed down the woman's face. "My son merely spoke against you, and you killed him?"
Evelyn's pupils contracted.
"Who are you?"
"Christian Lefèvre's mother!" the woman shrieked. "Murderer!"
Evelyn's expression frosted over.
"You claim I killed him?"
"Someone sent me proof!" Madame Lefèvre screamed hysterically. "You set that fire!"
