Chapter 430

Adrian Valentine swallowed hard under Evelyn Roland's mocking gaze.

Every explanation stuck in his throat.

He knew she wouldn't believe him.

She was convinced he had conspired with Isabella Langley to kill Christian Lefèvre.

"I never knew Christian was Isabella's boyfriend," Adrian rasped. "All I saw was you lighting the fire before the explosion happened."

"I was injured and unconscious. When I woke up, Christian was already..." He paused. "And you were unharmed."

Evelyn's fingers trembled slightly.

So his insistence on divorce wasn't just because of Isabella—he had witnessed her "committing murder."

"Finished?" She lifted her eyes. "You can leave now."

Her heart had turned to ice.

No explanation would matter anymore.

"Darling, the fire was Isabella's doing." Adrian suddenly stood up, his usual careless demeanor returning. "I'll get you out of here."

Evelyn scoffed. "Don't bother. The moment I'm free, you and Isabella will be my first lawsuit."

"You hate me that much?" He narrowed his eyes.

"I loved you once." Her voice was light. "On the day we divorced, I saw the two of you in the office—"

"I never touched her!" Adrian cut in sharply.

He immediately regretted it.

Evelyn didn't even spare him a glance. "Too cowardly to admit it, Mr. Valentine?"

"We're over." She turned away. "Don't come near me again."

The door slammed shut.

A cold smile curved Evelyn's lips.

Adrian claimed he saw her light the fire?

But by the time she arrived, the flames were already out of control.

Who had he really seen?

The evidence Vincent Kemnis held was likely this very "eyewitness testimony."

Isabella had played her cards brilliantly.

Two men dancing to her tune—

One adored her beyond reason.

The other died for her.

Evelyn closed her eyes.

Three days would be enough for Sophia Blanchet to uncover the truth.

......

Inside the black sedan.

Victor Ashcroft asked cautiously, "Did Mrs. Roland—"

"Doesn't believe me." Adrian massaged his temples.

Victor barely suppressed an eye roll.

Wasn't that obvious?

"To the Lefèvre residence." Adrian suddenly ordered.

The car turned and vanished into the night.
