Chapter 331

Sebastian Orlando's eyes turned icy. He lunged forward and kicked the woman to the ground.

The scalding kettle in her hands clattered onto the floor.

Evelyn Roland stared at the steaming water, her gaze darkening like spilled ink.

She stepped closer, looking down at the woman curled up in pain.

Anyone bold enough to attack at an auction was no ordinary person.

Sebastian's kick had been brutal. The woman's face was drained of color.

"Even if I were a murderer, you have no right to judge me," Evelyn said coldly.

"Julian Roscente was the love of my life!" The woman's lips trembled. "You're the reason he went blind!"

Evelyn's brow arched slightly.

This situation was more serious than she'd anticipated.

She glanced at Zachary Deross behind her. "Find out how this woman got in."

"Evelyn, do you think you own this auction house?" Cassandra Valentine's mocking voice carried from a distance.

Adrian Valentine, Isabella Langley, and Victor Ashcroft were approaching.

Evelyn's gaze flickered over Adrian. Surprise flashed in his deep eyes.

The corner of her mouth lifted.

Funny. This auction house actually was hers.

Isabella stared at the woman on the floor, her eyes glinting with malice.

Useless!

That kettle was supposed to contain sulfuric acid. How had they failed?

Scarlett Orlando suddenly frowned. "What's that smell?"

She bent closer to the spilled liquid and paled. "It's sulfuric acid!"

"Sulfuric acid?" Sebastian's pupils constricted.

The woman on the floor looked terrified.

She hadn't known about the acid!

Sebastian immediately dialed his phone. "Call the police. This was attempted murder."

Nathan Aldridge arrived with officers and bodyguards.

When Evelyn saw Nathan, her eyes reddened.

"Nathan..." Her voice shook.

Nathan's eyes were also wet. "Miss Evelyn."

This foolish girl had been willing to get hurt just to lure Alexander Durand out.

"After the young master passed, he asked me to follow Mr. Orlando," Nathan said quietly.

Evelyn froze.

The word "passed" shattered her last hope.

She'd waited so long.

Refusing to believe Alexander was truly gone.

Last time, she'd even let Adrian stab her—just to see him one more time.
