Chapter 134
Zachary Deross pushed open the door, holding Evelyn Roland's cloth bag.
"I've brought your things." He handed it to her.
Evelyn took the bag with a slight nod. "Thank you."
Zachary's gaze lingered on Adrian Valentine for a moment before he turned and left the office.
Evelyn retrieved the restored photographs from the bag. Her fingertips traced the striking features of Alexander Durand's face.
Alexander, your secret won't stay hidden any longer.
I still haven't uncovered who betrayed you a year ago.
But I hope it was you.
As long as you're alive, nothing else matters.
Adrian watched the raw emotion in her eyes, his heart twisting painfully.
The love in her gaze was unmistakable.
Vincent Langley stared hungrily at the photographs, greed flickering in his eyes.
With these blueprints, the first diamond extraction could proceed smoothly.
"Evelyn, we all grieve for Alexander, but the dead cannot return," Vincent feigned sympathy.
Evelyn's head snapped up, her piercing glare striking him like a blade.
Vincent stiffened under her icy stare, his chest tightening.
Since when did this girl have such a terrifying presence?
She regarded him with detached indifference, as if he were nothing more than an insignificant insect.
"Alexander might still be alive. I never saw his body."
Vincent suppressed a cold laugh. He had watched Alexander being thrown into the sea with his own eyes—no chance of survival.
"You two were so close. It pains me to see you like this every time you look at his photos. His father and I were good friends. Such a tragic loss of talent."
He forced a sorrowful expression.
Evelyn's heart clenched. Though she lacked proof, she knew Vincent was the murderer.
"Whoever killed Alexander will wish they were dead."
Her voice, laced with lethal intent, sent a chill down his spine.
Despite his years in the underworld, Vincent felt genuine fear for the first time.
This Evelyn Roland was far more dangerous than he'd realized.
Noticing his scrutiny, she quickly masked her sharp edges.
Adrian remained silent, jealousy burning in his eyes.
"Mr. Langley, I'll give you all the photos—but only if you tell me where Alexander's siblings are." Her tone was distant.
"Why would I know their whereabouts?" Vincent narrowed his eyes.
"No matter. Someone will talk. These photos are valuable to many."
A faint, knowing smile curved her lips.
Vincent inwardly cursed. If he'd known she held so many secrets, he would have kept her alive.
A marriage alliance could have been profitable. What a miscalculation.
"Why do you need to find them?" Vincent pretended confusion.
