Chapter 475
Adrian Valentine sat in his car, his gaze locked onto Evelyn Roland in the distance.
She stood by the roadside with Scarlett Orlando, laughing under the sunlight. Her radiant smile struck his heart like a sharp blade.
Sebastian Cortez's car soon arrived, and the two women got in before driving away.
"Follow them," Adrian ordered, his voice low.
Victor Ashcroft tightened his grip on the steering wheel. "Sir, Sebastian's driving skills are unmatched. I've lost him multiple times already."
Not just Sebastian—even Sophia Blanchet could easily shake him off. Everyone from Sterling Manor was a master at evasion.
True to form, a truck abruptly cut into their lane. By the time they maneuvered around it, their target had vanished without a trace.
Adrian's expression darkened. "This happens every time?"
"Yes, sir." Victor wiped the sweat from his brow.
Back at the Bamboo Whisper Villa, Adrian stood in the foyer, staring into the pitch-black living room.
He flicked the light switch. Harsh brightness flooded the space, but it couldn't dispel the hollowness inside him.
His eyes drifted toward the kitchen. There used to be a small nightlight there, with Evelyn always preparing warm midnight snacks for him.
Now, only cold countertops remained.
He collapsed onto the sofa, sinking into the plush cushions. The soft glow of the living room lights draped over him like a thin veil, accentuating his loneliness.
Longing crashed over him like tidal waves. He missed Evelyn's warm embrace, the faint scent of gardenias clinging to her skin.
The happiness he had destroyed with his own hands had become his cruelest punishment.
For three years, every night was torment. Her smiling face haunted his dreams, only to leave him with an empty bed upon waking.
His fists clenched, nails digging into his palms. Revenge wasn't complete yet, but he couldn't wait any longer.
He just wanted to return to her side—even if only to watch from afar.
Cold water cascaded over his head, failing to numb the pain in his chest. Adrian stood under the shower, letting the icy streams scour his body.
......
Morning sunlight filtered through the hospital curtains.
Eleanor Langley suddenly sat up in bed, her eyes darting around before she lunged at Jonathan Savigny with a hysterical scream. "Why did you crash into my car? I never got to see my daughter one last time!"
