Chapter 305
Margaret Valentine's pupils constricted sharply as she stared at the transformed Evelyn Roland before her.
The timid girl she once knew was gone.
Now Evelyn stood with crimson lips curved in a smirk, her gaze razor-sharp.
The tailored black blazer accentuated her slender frame. The Patek Philippe on her wrist glinted coldly under the chandeliers.
"Having Nathan Aldridge as your backer certainly changes things," Margaret spat through clenched teeth.
Evelyn idly adjusted her cuff. "You flatter me, Mrs. Valentine. I simply realized—"
"Reasoning with rabid dogs is pointless. Sometimes you just have to hit back."
Margaret's meticulously maintained face twisted in rage.
She jabbed a finger at Evelyn's nose. "If you hadn't seduced Adrian, he and Isabella would've—"
"Proof?" Evelyn stepped forward abruptly, her stilettos clicking sharply. "Or is slander part of the Valentine family values?"
The crystal chandeliers reflected in Evelyn's eyes like shattered ice.
Margaret stumbled half a step back from the sheer intensity.
"Take your hysterics back to the Valentine estate." Evelyn turned, her blazer slicing through the air. "But if you dare come after me again—"
"I won't hesitate to replace you as the Valentine matriarch."
Margaret trembled with fury.
Spotting a reporter in the corner, she lowered her voice to a venomous whisper. "I hear Sterling Manor is negotiating herbal contracts. One word from me, and you won't get a single gram of supplies."
Nathan started to speak, but Evelyn rested a hand on his arm with a laugh.
"By all means, try." She tucked a stray lock behind her ear. "Let's see who ends up begging to work with whom."
Margaret stormed off in her towering heels.
Then she froze at the corridor's turn.
"Old Man Li?" Her snake-like smile returned as she watched Evelyn's retreating figure.
Her phone flashed open to "Madam Li's" contact.
"Wanyi, darling," she cooed sickeningly sweet. "I'll have the West District villa keys delivered tomorrow..."
As the call ended, Margaret's nails dug deep into her palms.
If she could eliminate Evelyn's mother years ago...
What was one more little bitch to dispose of?
