Chapter 56

Isabella's fingers trembled slightly as memories from that banquet flashed through her mind.

She had not only ignored the unconscious girl but even kicked her harshly.

Who would have guessed that was Theodore Lowell's precious daughter?

If she had known, she would never have let Evelyn take the credit.

"Mr. Lowell, your presence honors us," Adrian stepped forward to shake hands.

Theodore studied the young man before him.

Adrian's refined features exuded natural nobility, yet carried an undercurrent of sharp intensity.

"You flatter me, Mr. Valentine. Though today I've also arranged to meet with Nathan from Sterling Manor."

His preference leaned toward Sterling Manor, given their substantial resources.

Adrian's eyes darkened—this negotiation wouldn't be straightforward.

"Mr. Lowell, I'm Isabella Langley." She introduced herself with practiced grace.

Theodore gave a polite nod.

Isabella breathed an inward sigh of relief—he didn't seem to recognize her.

"At that banquet, when your daughter fainted, my sister and I provided immediate assistance," she ventured carefully.

"Oh?" Theodore's gaze sharpened. "You were there?"

"Yes, I went to notify your family. Unfortunately, it became too chaotic, and by the time I returned, you'd already left."

She deliberately kept her account vague.

Adrian arched a brow at Isabella, surprised by this unexpected connection.

Theodore's expression softened. "Thanks to your help, my daughter recovered safely."

After a thoughtful pause, he continued, "In that case, I'll award this contract to Valentine Group."

Isabella's pulse quickened—success had come more easily than expected.

Adrian showed a flicker of surprise. "You won't regret this decision, Mr. Lowell."

"Frankly, I favored Sterling Manor," Theodore admitted bluntly. "But to repay Miss Langley's kindness, I'll make an exception this time."

He always settled debts clearly.

"Speaking of which, Miss Langley, I heard your sister possesses some evidence? Could you ask her to share it with me?"

He was gathering proof to sue the man who harmed his daughter.

Isabella's smile froze. "I'll relay your request."

What evidence? How would Evelyn have access to such things?

As she calculated silently, an assistant hurried in.

"Chairman, Mr. Aldridge has arrived."
