Chapter 390

Evelyn tapped her fingers lightly on the desk, brows slightly furrowed. "Could it be they don't know about their relationship?"

Victoria immediately shook her head. "Impossible. Eleanor clearly knows Isabella is her daughter. Otherwise, why would she defend Isabella at every turn against you?"

Evelyn's pupils constricted sharply, her voice tense. "Are you saying Eleanor knowingly let siblings be together?"

The question had haunted her all night.

Victoria sighed. "Unless your suspicion is correct—they're both unaware."

Evelyn fell into deep thought.

She had already delivered the two paternity test results to Eleanor and Margaret today. Now she waited for their reactions.

"No news from Margaret yet?"

Victoria glanced at her phone. "Zachary's keeping watch. Nothing so far."

Something felt off to Evelyn. Had Vincent and Margaret been entangled in their youth?

The thought of Adrian's father's mysterious death stirred more questions in her mind.

But the past was like smoke—impossible to grasp.

"Notify me immediately if there's any update." Evelyn stood. "Scarlett invited me shopping."

Victoria gave her a concerned look. "Don't waste tears on that scoundrel. Let them destroy each other."

A flicker passed through Evelyn's eyes. "I stopped caring long ago."

Before leaving, she visited the nursery to feed her twins.

Outside Scarlett's studio building, Evelyn dialed her friend. "I'm here. Come down."

A groan came through the phone. "Grace, my period just started. Bring me some pads, please?"

Evelyn exhaled in exasperation.

She turned into the nearby convenience store, heading straight for the feminine products aisle.

As she scanned her items at checkout, a familiar icy presence approached.

Her fingers stilled. From the corner of her eye, she saw Adrian buying bottled water at the next register.

She averted her gaze instantly, paid, and hurried out.

Adrian watched her retreating figure, frustration tightening his jaw. He loosened his tie irritably.

Now she couldn't even bear to look at him?

Evelyn quickened her pace toward the elevators. Only when certain Adrian hadn't followed did she relax slightly.

Memories of him with Isabella churned her stomach.

The elevator doors began closing—until a slender, masculine hand shot between them.

The doors slid open once more.
