Chapter 39

Sophia handed her phone to Evelyn. "Boss, Isabella bribed Melanie Evans."

"I threatened Melanie with the kidney donor. She admitted taking Isabella's money. But the donor match is real. I promised to keep it quiet so Isabella wouldn't interfere."

Rare mercy from Sophia.

Uncharacteristic.

Evelyn frowned. "Why is Isabella targeting me?"

She'd already divorced Adrian. Why the obsession?

Unless it was about her origins.

The only logical explanation.

The Langleys still refused to reveal her true parentage.

Sophia scoffed. "That woman's deranged."

Evelyn pondered. The Langleys' secrets had eluded her for years.

"Send me the video. Have Zachary investigate Isabella—full background check from birth. I need everything."

Something didn't add up.

Who gave those photos to Adrian?

Evelyn turned to Victoria. "Dig into the Langleys. Every social connection, business deal—leave no stone unturned."

Days of numbness ended now.

With the map surfacing, the puppeteer would emerge soon.

Victoria's eyes gleamed. "Understood, Miss Roland. I'll uncover everything."

Evelyn cradled her swelling abdomen. "Remember—my identity stays hidden."

She'd expose the truth.

For Alexander's justice.

As for Adrian...

Such men weren't worth keeping.

These two lives inside her were enough.

Victoria and Sophia exchanged glances before departing.

......

Langley Mansion.

Beneath the crystal chandelier, Vincent Langley sat rigid on the leather sofa.

Isabella perched demurely beside him.

Dominic pointed at photos of a disheveled Evelyn. "Chairman, Evelyn Roland did know Alexander Durand."

Vincent narrowed his eyes. "How?"

Dominic shook his head. "Finding these at Durand's residence shocked me too. This intimacy suggests... more."

Isabella examined her manicure. "These photos made Adrian divorce her."

Playing the angel for Adrian had grown tedious.

Vincent smiled approvingly at his daughter. "Your sacrifice won't be forgotten. Once we rule Vienna's elite, you'll have everything."

Malice flashed in Isabella's eyes. "Father, Evelyn's becoming unpredictable. I have an idea."

Vincent raised an eyebrow. "Do tell."
