Chapter 301

Vincent Ashcroft Sr. felt cold sweat trickling down his spine.

He had pulled every string to get his son into Falcon Training Camp. He wouldn't let Julian Roscente's mess ruin those efforts.

Their families were barely acquaintances. Sacrificing his son's future for outsiders wasn't an option.

His gaze turned icy as it landed on Julian. "What's there to discuss? You can't even distinguish allies from enemies."

Julian fell silent.

He knew Vincent well. If the man chose to trust Evelyn Roland, there had to be a reason.

Had he misjudged the situation?

"Evelyn risked her life saving your son, and this is how you repay her?" Vincent's laugh was bitter. "Mark my words—the Roscente business will collapse within a month."

He turned on his heel and left.

Everyone had their own fate. This wasn't his burden to bear.

Vincent Langley was unfathomable. Isabella Langley wore masks beneath masks. Those eyes of hers always unsettled him.

Whether Adrian Valentine knew the truth didn't matter. Vincent would keep his guard up.

Adrian watched Vincent's retreating figure, his gaze darkening. The man was clearly hiding something.

"Mr. Roscente, I'll take my leave."

He needed to investigate this personally. When he dialed Victor Ashcroft's number, his eyes had frosted over.

In the hospital room, Julian had just finished his examination.

He sat motionless by the bed, his bloodshot eyes terrifying, his pallid face etched with despair.

"Dr. Lee, my son's vision—" Julian's voice trembled.

The doctor adjusted his glasses. "The blindness resulted from cranial trauma. No signs of cerebral hemorrhage. We'll need another scan in three days to confirm the cause."

Julian's fingers clenched the sheets.

"However..." The doctor's tone shifted. "I recommend consulting Doctor Z. Traditional medicine could help without side effects."

"Doctor Z?" Julian gave a hollow laugh. "Vanished six years ago. No one even knows if it's a man or woman."

"A woman." Dr. Lee lowered his voice. "Graduated from a top overseas medical school at eighteen, dual-trained in Eastern and Western medicine. That's all I can say."

After the doctor left, Julian's heart ached as he watched his son.

He understood that pride better than anyone.

"Julian, I'll find Doctor Z."

Julian gave a stiff nod, his knuckles whitening from the force of his grip.
