Chapter 299

Julian Roscente frowned deeply. "He sees things more clearly than I do. I want to know his true thoughts."

Adrian Valentine wore an equally grave expression as he pondered Vincent Ashcroft's whereabouts. "Uncle Julian, I'll go with you."

After giving Victor Ashcroft brief instructions, Julian left in a hurry with Adrian.

Victor stood rooted to the spot, utterly bewildered.

He couldn't make sense of the situation.

What was wrong with the chairman?

Was there some misunderstanding?

How could they suspect Evelyn Roland of being the murderer?

......

Inside a black sedan parked outside the hospital, Evelyn sat in the backseat.

Zachary Deross studied her flawless face through the rearview mirror.

"Boss, Eleanor Langley has been quiet, but Isabella is investigating her mother's recent strange behavior."

A faint smile curved Evelyn's lips. "Let her dig. The best outcome would be uncovering the truth and watching them tear each other apart."

With Vincent Langley already frantic over the stolen diamonds, some family drama would make things even more entertaining.

It might also help her solve the mystery of her own origins.

Excitement flashed in Zachary's eyes. "Brilliant, boss. The messier the Langley family gets, the better."

He loved a good spectacle.

"Oh, Nathan called. Mr. Lefèvre wants to see you."

Evelyn arched a brow. "Me?"

"He said he wants details about Horizon Tech's R&D project."

After a brief pause, she nodded. "Set it up. I'll bring the project proposal to ease his mind."

The elderly always had too many concerns.

"Boss, it's Sebastian." Zachary barely finished speaking before Sebastian Orlando opened the car door and slid in.

"My assistant took my car. Mind if I hitch a ride?" He buckled his seatbelt casually.

Zachary grinned. "Perfect timing. You two live across from each other."

At the hospital entrance, Adrian witnessed the scene.

The possessive look in Sebastian's eyes as he gazed at Evelyn sent shockwaves through him.

Julian's words echoed in his mind: What you see isn't always the truth.

Years ago, he'd seen Evelyn kill Christian Lefèvre with his own eyes—but could that have been an illusion too?

Guilt had stopped him from digging deeper, afraid of uncovering something even more horrifying.

"Adrian, are we still going?" Julian's question snapped him back to reality.

"Yes." His voice was low.

Thirty minutes later, they arrived at a secluded teahouse on the city outskirts.

Julian finally found Vincent Ashcroft Sr. sipping tea in quiet contemplation.
