Chapter 494
Felicia blinked her big eyes and tugged at Evelyn's sleeve with her tiny hand. "Mommy... bath time," she said in her sweet baby voice.
Evelyn couldn't help but laugh at her daughter's adorable pleading face.
"Alright, Mommy will take a bath." She crouched down and pinched Felicia's chubby cheeks. "But you have to promise not to disturb your brother while he's sleeping."
Felicia immediately pouted, her eyes darting around mischievously.
"Don't play dumb." Evelyn tapped her forehead lightly. "We still haven't talked about how you hid Ethan's toy car yesterday."
The little girl flashed an angelic smile and gestured with her hands. "Felicia good."
Evelyn gave her a skeptical look before heading to the bathroom. She glanced back one last time—Felicia was already engrossed in building with her new blocks, sitting cross-legged on the carpet like a tiny engineer.
Lately, both children had developed a fascination with toy stores. Every time they saw a new toy on TV, they'd drag her shopping the next day. Evelyn shook her head and took a quick shower.
When she stepped out wrapped in a towel, Felicia had abandoned her blocks and was running toward her with outstretched arms.
"Hug!"
Evelyn caught the wiggly bundle and kissed her rosy cheek. The girl had gained weight recently, feeling heavier in her arms.
"Smell nice!" Felicia buried her face in Evelyn's neck, nuzzling contentedly.
Carrying her daughter, Evelyn entered the bedroom. Tristan was already asleep, one small hand resting above his head, lips slightly parted as he breathed evenly. She gently kissed his forehead.
The moment Evelyn set Felicia down, the little girl flipped over and tried to crawl away.
"Bedtime," Evelyn said firmly, holding her in place.
Felicia blinked innocently while reaching for her brother's hair. Evelyn swiftly pulled her back and tucked her under the covers.
"Milk," Felicia bargained.
With a resigned sigh, Evelyn went to prepare a bottle. When she returned, Felicia had twisted herself into a pretzel, one foot sticking up as she tried grabbing her toes.
"Stop playing and drink." Evelyn handed her the bottle.
Felicia continued wiggling while drinking, occasionally letting out happy little hums. Watching her antics, Evelyn couldn't suppress a smile.
Half an hour later, Felicia finally fell asleep, her lips still making sucking motions. Evelyn carefully adjusted her blanket and checked Tristan's covers.
Exhaustion washed over her as she turned off the lights, but her mind remained alert. The day's events replayed like a slideshow behind her eyelids.
She reached for her phone. The bright screen pierced the darkness, illuminating Isabella Langley and Warren Garten's beaming wedding photo trending online, their marriage certificates held proudly.
The comments section had exploded.
—Is this for real? That act with Adrian Valentine was so obviously fake.
—Congrats sis! Warren's way more reliable than Adrian!
—Wake up! Her dad's scandal isn't over. Rumor says today's car crash was staged.
Evelyn massaged her temples. Isabella's latest move was disastrous—she might as well be digging her own grave. Switching off the phone, she stared into the darkness until dawn's first light crept through the curtains.
