Chapter 425

Nathan's expression darkened but he remained silent.

Danielle continued with an icy smirk, "But as a woman, I can clearly see that Evelyn has no feelings for you, Nathan. You should let go."

Her words struck a nerve. He snapped, "That's enough, Diana."

"Why? Can't handle the truth?"

Nathan's lips tightened. "Those who live by deception will fall. If you want a fresh start, I can provide support. Consider it Alistair's final compensation."

"Don't say his name!" Diana shrieked.

Her composure shattered instantly. "Nathan, never mention him to me again."

Clutching her temples, she teetered on the edge of hysteria.

When she turned back, her gaze burned with fury. "Invest five hundred million in Landon Group, or Evelyn dies with me."

Money meant nothing to him.

He pulled out his checkbook without hesitation, signed with a flourish, and thrust it at her. "Last time. Remember - Evelyn is off limits."

The moment the paper touched her palm, he turned on his heel.

Diana stood frozen, hatred twisting her features as she watched him leave.

Her fingers convulsed, crumpling the pristine check beyond recognition.

After leaving the café, Evelyn wandered aimlessly for the first time in years. Exhaustion weighed on her shoulders like a leaden cloak.

Then a familiar silhouette materialized. She blinked, certain her eyes deceived her - until Harrison stepped into focus.

His warm smile melted her defenses. "Evie, what are you doing out here?"

She laughed breathlessly. "Harry? Am I hallucinating?"

He captured her chilled hands in his. "Maxwell said you rushed out looking distressed. I had to make sure you're alright."

His touch sent warmth radiating through her veins.

Suddenly, her restless heart found its anchor.

"I'm fine. Actually... I feel lighter now."

"Lighter?" His brow furrowed.

She simply squeezed his hand in response, a secret smile playing on her lips.

For the first time, she'd truly emptied her heart of the man who once consumed it.

"By the way, Juliette came clean. She's Diana Delaney. The battle lines are drawn now."

Danger flashed in Harrison's eyes - a silent promise of protection.

"What's your move?"

Evelyn squared her shoulders, determination igniting her gaze. "We'll settle this in the boardroom. May the best strategist win."

"Go. I've got your back."

He knew her strength. Trusted her capability. But should she falter, his arms would catch her without fail.
