Chapter 359

Evelyn finished speaking with a decisive nod, motioning to Maxwell. "Bring me all the documentation for the potential acquisitions we've been reviewing."

Seeing Evelyn take charge, Maxwell visibly relaxed. "Right away, Ms. Carter."

Within minutes, he returned with an armful of folders.

He sorted through the most viable investment opportunities before presenting them. "Ms. Carter, these all show excellent growth potential."

"Set them here."

Evelyn selected a file at random, her sharp eyes scanning the contents. Her finger tapped a particular project. "This merger prospect has negotiable terms."

Maxwell nodded in agreement. "The assessment team gave this one favorable marks. However, all their production facilities are located on Azure Isle. An on-site evaluation would require traveling there."

Evelyn considered this. "Where exactly is Azure Isle?"

"Approximately 186 nautical miles west along the coastline. We'd need to charter a vessel - the round trip would take two to three days."

"Have the team prepare. We'll conduct the inspection personally."

"Understood, Ms. Carter."

Meanwhile, an unusual gathering at Kingsley Industries' main entrance drew curious glances from pedestrians.

"Shane, are we really going in?"

Maximilian shot his subordinate an incredulous look. "Why else would we be standing here?" His gaze traveled up the gleaming skyscraper, envy flashing across his features.

"Imagine owning a building like this."

"Yeah boss! Maybe Ms. Carter could get us office space here?"

Maximilian cuffed the speaker's head. "Don't be ridiculous. That's completely inappropriate!"

The young man rubbed his head. "Just joking..."

Another team member came running from the building. "Boss, the receptionist says we need an appointment to see Ms. Carter."

Maximilian cursed under his breath. "Idiots! She's our employer! Since when do we need appointments?"

"They said she's extremely busy."

Maximilian smacked his subordinate's shoulder. "Did you give them my name?"

"I did! They insisted appointments are mandatory for everyone."

Scratching his head in frustration, Maximilian muttered, "Now what?"

"Couldn't we just call her?"

"If I had her direct line, would I be standing here? None of you useless lot could even find a contact number!"

"Actually boss..." A younger team member produced a slip of paper with a handwritten number. "We got it."

Maximilian immediately dialed. Ten minutes later, Maxwell appeared to escort them upstairs via private elevator.

"Damn boss, corporate headquarters are next level!"

"Obviously. This is Kingsley Industries. The Carters could probably smother someone with their cash reserves."

The elevator doors opened directly into Evelyn's office suite. "She's expecting you," Maxwell announced.

Maximilian entered with a broad grin. "Ms. Carter!"
