Chapter 262

For the first time in his life, Adrian found himself grateful for his Prescott lineage.

"Taking on the Dunhill project solo presents considerable risk," he explained, all business now. "I recommend partnering with a firm of comparable capability."

"This would significantly reduce our risk exposure."

When discussing business, not a trace of Adrian's usual playfulness remained.

He continued, "Among Pamore's corporate leaders, aside from Sterling Enterprises, Horizon Technologies boasts the strongest financials."

"A partnership would maximize results."

Evelyn's eyebrows arched. "Horizon Technologies? You're suggesting we collaborate with them?"

Adrian nodded. "They're the optimal choice. Though-" He paused, meeting Evelyn's gaze. "There is an alternative - Sterling Enterprises."

"Nathan?" The name escaped Evelyn's lips before she could stop it. She shook her head firmly.

"Absolutely not. Horizon Technologies it is."

Work entanglements with Nathan Sterling were the last thing she wanted.

"Agreed. Horizon's financial strength makes them ideal partners." Adrian studied her reaction carefully. "I'll contact their president, though he's notoriously reclusive."

Evelyn waved a dismissive hand. "No need for formal outreach. You likely know Horizon's president already."

Adrian's confusion showed. "I do?"

"It's Harrison Whitmore - the Fulton Group heir."

"Harrison?" Adrian's jaw nearly hit the floor.

Harrison Whitmore was practically a myth in their circles - child prodigy, Harvard valedictorian, business savant. The man was a living legend.

Though both Frenda natives, their paths had never crossed. When had Harrison come to Pamore? And he was the mysterious force behind Horizon Technologies?

Adrian's gaze sharpened on Evelyn. "You know Harrison personally?"

Evelyn's lips curved slightly. "We're quite close, actually."

Since Harrison's injury saving her from the fire, he hadn't returned. But they maintained regular contact.

"If that's the case, he's undoubtedly our best option. Though-" Adrian pressed his lips together, an unfamiliar jealousy twisting in his gut. "Ms. Carter, this is strictly business. Don't let Harrison charm you."

"I'll admit he's impressive - marginally more so than myself. But you two would be disastrous together!"

Evelyn didn't know whether to laugh or sigh. "And how would you know that?"

Adrian's concern was palpable. If Nathan had been the competition, he wouldn't have worried. That history was settled.

But Harrison? The man was elite in looks, intellect, and pedigree. Adrian's odds plummeted below thirty percent.

His expression darkened. "If it's Harrison, I'll concede defeat. But Ms. Carter, matters of the heart require careful consideration."

Evelyn shook her head with an exasperated laugh. "It's business, Adrian. Why are you making it personal?"

"Just ensuring we stay professional, Ms. Carter!"

"Then let's focus on work."

With that, Evelyn turned on her heel and left his office.
