Chapter 377
"Email me all the information related to that accident immediately."
"On it."
Within minutes, Callum had forwarded everything to Harrison.
Harrison opened his inbox and scanned through the documents with practiced efficiency.
"What's all this about, Harrison?"
Evelyn had woken from her nap.
Still reviewing the files, Harrison answered without hesitation, "I ran a background check on Juliette. Everything checks out except for a car crash five years ago. Her parents died, but she survived."
Evelyn's brow furrowed as she made the obvious connection to Juliette's hostility. "You think that accident involves me?"
Harrison handed her his phone. After reading, she shook her head. "I'd never met Juliette before this, nor her parents."
So why did Juliette harbor such intense hatred toward her? It felt like some ancient blood feud between them.
"Don't stress about it. Rx. I'll handle this." Harrison gave her shoulder a reassuring squeeze.
Evelyn nodded, but questions swirled in her mind. Something about this situation didn't add up.
Noticing her troubled expression, Harrison smoothly changed subjects. "We'll be landing in Coronia within the hour."
Evelyn took a deep breath and murmured in acknowledgement.
This city - both familiar and foreign - was a place she hadn't visited since graduating university. Memories of Nathan Sterling surfaced unbidden. They'd first met at Coronia University.
—
Exactly sixty minutes later, the jet touched down on a private airstrip.
Callum had been waiting. Spotting Harrison, he rushed forward with arms outstretched. "Harrison! Man, it's been too long!"
Harrison sidestepped the embrace, his expression one of mild disgust.
Undeterred, Callum tried again - only to freeze mid-motion when he noticed Evelyn standing beside Harrison.
He blinked rapidly, all movement ceasing. His inner gossipmonger roared to life.
There was actually a woman standing next to Harrison Whitmore!
This was unprecedented.
"Harrison, pinch me - I must be dreaming!"
Watching Callum's theatrical reaction, Harrison facepalmed before making introductions. "Evelyn, this is Callum. My resident pain in the ass."
With a polite smile, Evelyn waved. "Nice to meet you, Callum. I'm Evelyn Carter."
Evelyn? THE Evelyn?
In Callum and Harrison's circle, the name "Evelyn" carried weight.
Though they'd never met her, everyone knew she was the woman Harrison had pined for all these years.
Callum's excitement bubbled over. Unable to contain himself, he blurted, "Pleasure to meet you, Mrs. Whitmore!"
The air turned electric.
Evelyn's cheeks flamed. Before she could form a coherent denial - "I-I'm not—"
Callum, misinterpreting her reaction as shyness, barreled on. "No need for formalities, Mrs. Whitmore! We're all family here. Just call me Cal."
Evelyn stammered helplessly.
Harrison pulled her closer, shooting Callum a look. "You're overwhelming her. Just call her Evelyn."
The protective gesture was textbook alpha male.
Callum couldn't help thinking Harrison had never looked more badass.
