Chapter 150

"Evelyn," Eleanor Blackwell forced a tight smile. "I'll admit my past mistakes and apologize properly. But Nathan has done nothing wrong. He's always loved you deeply."

"Perhaps you should reconsider giving him another chance. I swear I won't interfere this time."

"How dare you have the audacity?" Olivia Sinclair fired back without mercy.

"Look at what kind of people you Sterlings are. Even if every other man on earth disappeared, I'd never choose Nathan again."

Evelyn mentally cheered for her best friend's savage comeback.

That's my girl.

"Mrs. Blackwell, I'll treat today's conversation as a bad joke. Honesty suits people better than trying to elevate yourself by stepping on others."

Eleanor's face drained of color, her expression turning ugly.

Despite humbling herself, Evelyn showed no respect. This wasn't the same meek girl who used to tolerate everything silently.

Eleanor refused to accept defeat.

Her fingers secretly found her phone in the purse, dialing Nathan's number. Let him hear his ex-wife's true colors.

"Evelyn, are you truly over Nathan?" Eleanor pressed, convinced the words were insincere.

For three years, she'd watched Evelyn debase herself for Nathan's love. No woman could abandon such feelings so easily.

Evelyn frowned, having considered this herself.

Before today, mentioning Nathan might have stirred something. Even if he'd never loved her, her heart would have reacted.

But now? It felt like discussing a complete stranger. Not even a flicker of emotion remained.

"Mrs. Blackwell, people change. I'm no exception. Besides, shouldn't we learn from past mistakes?" Evelyn said calmly.

"To you, Nathan may be the perfect son. To me? Just an ordinary man I no longer know."

Through the phone, Nathan's grip tightened dangerously.

He was in the middle of Sterling Enterprises' quarterly board meeting when the call connected.

Hearing Evelyn's words, his expression darkened, leaving executives exchanging confused glances. The room fell deathly silent.

Simon recognized the warning signs. Risking ejection, he whispered, "Mr. Sterling, is everything alright?"

Nathan stood abruptly. "Continue without me." His voice could freeze hell.

He left without explanation, leaving stunned silence in his wake.

Meanwhile, Eleanor grew uneasy under Evelyn's indifference. "You'll regret this, Evelyn."

"Mrs. Blackwell, I know my own mind. I'm not a recycling center for other people's trash." With that, Evelyn turned away.

Eleanor stood frozen, then pulled out her phone with trembling hands. "Nathan, you heard her. Your ex-wife just humiliated me."
