Chapter 351

Evelyn's face remained impassive, but the fire in her eyes betrayed her fury. Without a word, she spun on her heel and strode away.

Diana watched her retreat with a self-satisfied smirk. She took her time dressing before sauntering out of the CEO's office.

The receptionist approached with a sycophantic smile. "Ms. Chamberlain, was my assistance satisfactory today?"

Diana arched a perfectly sculpted brow. "The intel was precise and the execution flawless. You've outdone yourself."

"Thank you, Ms. Chamberlain."

Without hesitation, Diana retrieved a limited-edition Chanel makeup set from her office and presented it to the receptionist.

"For you."

The receptionist's eyes gleamed with greed, though she feigned reluctance. "Ms. Chamberlain, I couldn't possibly—"

"Nonsense. A trifle between friends. Refusing would be an insult."

"Oh no, I wouldn't dream—"

The receptionist snatched the gift eagerly, then leaned in conspiratorially. "Ms. Carter left in quite a state. She's definitely off the premises by now."

Diana's lips curled in triumph.

She knew Evelyn's weakness—that deep-seated trauma from her first marriage. Infidelity was the one betrayal Evelyn could never forgive.

This morning's little performance would haunt Evelyn for weeks.

The thought made Diana's smile turn predatory.

The receptionist shivered under that gaze. "If there's nothing else, Ms. Chamberlain..."

Diana nodded but delivered her warning. "About today's events—"

"My lips are sealed. No one will hear a word from me."

Satisfied, Diana dismissed her.

Evelyn remained oblivious to Diana's machinations. Emerging from Horizon Technologies' gleaming tower, she paused on the sidewalk instead of leaving.

Her lips pressed into a thin line as she processed what she'd witnessed.

Yes, the scene had shaken her. But upon reflection—Diana had been alone in that bedroom.

Evelyn needed answers.

She wouldn't leave with this uncertainty poisoning her mind. Pulling out her phone, she dialed Harrison.

In Horizon Technologies' executive boardroom, Harrison presided over the quarterly strategy meeting.

The ringing phone shattered the presentation's flow.

Executives exchanged startled glances but remained silent.

Harrison glanced at the caller ID. Without hesitation, he raised a hand to halt the meeting.

"Evelyn?"

His voice softened noticeably the moment he answered. The executives' eyebrows shot up—this gentle tone was utterly foreign coming from their notoriously stern CEO.

Frowning at the prolonged silence, Harrison checked the still-active call. "Evelyn, what's wrong?"

The tenderness in his voice sent another ripple of shock through the room. Without explanation, Harrison stood and strode out, oblivious to the whispers erupting behind him.

Most were speculating wildly about this mysterious "Evelyn."

"Where are you? I'll come to you immediately." Harrison jabbed the elevator button as he spoke.

Evelyn stared up at Horizon Technologies' imposing headquarters, the company name gleaming in polished steel.

She took a steadying breath. "I'm at your building's entrance."

"Stay right there. I'm coming down."
