Chapter 365

Damian Castillo smirked as he set down the pliers. His fingers curled around a gleaming surgical blade instead. "Do you know what this is for?"

Evelyn Carter's stomach twisted at the sight. She knew exactly what that instrument meant.

But Damian answered his own question with chilling glee. "This will gut you like a fish."

A violent gag reflex seized Evelyn's throat.

The monster before her threw back his head in laughter. "Already losing your nerve, Ms. Carter? And we've barely started."

His grin turned feral. "When you meet the devil tonight, give him my regards."

A sharp gesture sent his goons advancing.

Harrison Whitmore moved like lightning, placing himself between Evelyn and danger. His dark eyes promised death to anyone who came closer.

The thugs froze under that murderous gaze.

"Worthless idiots!" Damian screamed. "Move!"

Trembling but obedient, the men lunged forward.

Harrison's boot connected with a chest. Ribs shattered. Blood sprayed across the concrete.

Damian's smirk faltered. He'd never seen such raw power. "Who the hell are you?"

"That's irrelevant." Harrison's voice could have frozen hell.

Evelyn stepped forward, her voice glacial. "Did you really think we'd come unprepared?"

Damian forced a laugh. "Ah yes, your little security detail. Trained professionals, no doubt." His smile turned vicious. "Pity they won't be joining us tonight."

He spread his arms wide. "Face it, Ms. Carter. No one's coming to save you. Not even your pet killer here."

Evelyn's lips curved. "Care to wager your life on that?"

Damian's eyes lit up. "My life? How dramatic." He gestured to the warehouse. "But you seem confused about who controls this territory."

Evelyn's smile turned predatory. "Are you certain you know whose territory this really is?"

Darkness swallowed the room.

Screams erupted in the blackness.

When the lights flared back to life, the scene had shifted completely. Harrison now held Damian in a brutal chokehold, the surgical blade kissing his throat.

Evelyn pressed her own dagger against Damian's abdomen. "You wanted to test this blade's sharpness." Her voice dripped venom. "Shall we conduct that experiment now?"
