Chapter 91
Sebastian Valdemar's expression darkened. "I'm sorry I couldn't be of more help."
"Don't blame yourself." Sophia Lowell clenched her fists. "This is all their underhanded tactics."
She took a deep breath. "Still, thank you. At least Vivian is safer inside now."
The only option left was to beg Ethan Roscente.
Sophia left the police station and immediately called Vivian's hacker friend.
"Any leads?"
"Gone without a trace." The hacker's voice was grim. "Like they vanished into thin air."
Sophia's fingers turned cold.
Only Ethan had the power to make someone disappear like this in New York.
He knew exactly how much Vivian meant to her.
Her phone burned in her palm as she shakily unblocked his number.
Ring—
No answer.
She tried again. Still nothing.
Sophia scoffed. So he wanted to make her sweat.
She dialed Zachary Evans instead.
"Ms. Lowell?" Zachary sounded surprised.
"Where's Ethan?"
In the office, Ethan slammed a file onto his desk.
Zachary swallowed hard. "Mr. Roscente is... in a meeting."
"It's urgent."
Through the glass, Zachary saw Ethan's stormy expression.
"Perhaps you could come to the office?"
A humorless laugh. "I'd rather not be framed again."
Zachary's forehead beaded with sweat.
So she hadn't forgotten last time.
"Then... would you wait at Bayview Residences?"
Silence stretched for several seconds.
"Fine."
Hanging up, Sophia gripped the steering wheel.
Bayview Residences.
The home they'd once shared.
"Mr. Roscente, Ms. Lowell said—"
The office door swung open, nearly hitting Zachary.
"Get in."
The last department manager stumbled out, pale-faced.
"Assistant Zhou..." His voice trembled. "What's wrong with Mr. Roscente today?"
Zachary forced a smile. "Project complications, perhaps?"
The manager wiped his brow and fled.
"Zachary!"
The roar from inside sent pitying looks from colleagues.
Steeling himself, Zachary pushed the door open. "You called, sir?"
