Chapter 235
Sophia's fingertips trembled slightly.
She remembered how Ethan had lost control in bed that night, nearly costing her the baby. Now he was carefully accompanying Isabella to her gynecologist appointment.
The photo of medicated ointment in his social media feed pierced her heart like a knife.
He cherished Isabella too much to touch her, yet used Sophia as his outlet.
All their recent entanglement was just his anger at a disobedient tool.
"Soph?" Vivian nudged her arm with concern.
Sophia snapped back to reality, forcing a smile. Her gaze landed on Vivian's swollen cheek. "Your injury..."
"Nothing!" Vivian waved it off. "Isabella's face is the real masterpiece—puffed up like a pig's head!"
Inside the van, Sophia carefully applied medicine to Vivian's wounds.
"Your eyes are terrifyingly red," Vivian frowned. "Should we go to the hospital?"
Sophia shook her head. "Just tired."
"That bitch!" Vivian gritted her teeth. "She definitely targeted me because she saw you on set!"
Sophia lowered her lashes guiltily.
"Not your fault!" Vivian jumped up. "I'll get ice cream for your eyes!"
The door slammed shut.
Sophia stared at her bloodshot reflection. Hot water and rubbing had left them rabbit-red.
The image of Ethan shielding Isabella haunted her. She tossed the mirror aside, leaning back against the seat.
If she could turn back time...
She'd never have tangled with that man.
Better to part as strangers than endure this torment. At least the memories could have remained beautiful.
Tears suddenly overflowed.
Just as she teetered on the edge of breakdown, the door yanked open.
Harsh sunlight framed a familiar icy voice: "So fierce earlier, now playing the victim?"
Sophia froze.
A hallucination? He should be at the hospital with Isabella.
"Sophia." The voice came again, colder than frost. "Get out."
Slowly, she lowered her hands and turned.
Ethan stood outside, his dark eyes fathomless.
Sophia looked away in silence.
