Chapter 344
"Snap!"
Dylan Langley was in the middle of berating Sophia Lowell when the sharp sound of a camera shutter cut him off.
Sophia turned to see Jason Roscente leaning against the hallway corner, phone raised and aimed directly at Dylan.
"Professor Langley, that was quite the inspiring speech." Jason waved his phone. "I got the whole thing on video. Can't wait to share it with all those hardworking seniors—let them know studying is pointless when connections get you ahead."
Sophia's pulse jumped. Jason had clearly overheard everything.
Dylan's face drained of color. In this university filled with first-generation students, his words were career suicide.
"You misunderstood!" Dylan flapped his hands in panic. "That's not what I meant—"
"Then enlighten me." Jason's smile turned icy. "Did you or did you not say the promotion was rigged? That education is worthless?"
"I only meant—"
"Oh, and one more thing." Jason raised his voice. "Didn't you mention your uncle being the dean?"
"That's bullshit! My aunt's husband is the dean!" Dylan blurted before realizing his mistake.
Jason's lips curved. "Ah. That explains how you stole someone's promotion so easily."
Dylan finally recognized the trap, his face twisting with rage. "You set me up!"
"Took you long enough." Jason scoffed. "And you're supposed to educate young minds?"
A crowd of students had gathered. Jason made a show of checking his phone. "Three million followers on Twitter. This video will make you famous overnight."
Department Chair Frederick Aldridge arrived, his expression darkening at the scene. "What's going on here?"
His glare landed on Sophia. "Miss Lowell! How dare you cause trouble with students!"
Jason stepped between them. "Ah, the chair who covers up nepotism. Perfect timing—you're in the video too. Should we launch your influencer careers together?"
Frederick looked bewildered. "What video? What nepotism?"
Dylan stomped his foot in frustration, unable to form a coherent response.
