Chapter 279
The makeup artist's hands trembled slightly.
With twenty years of experience working with A-list celebrities, she had never endured such humiliation. But Isabella Valentine had Ethan Roscente backing her, so she could only grit her teeth and bear it.
"This makeup is too heavy!" Isabella shrieked at the mirror. "I wanted a natural, no-makeup look!"
Beads of sweat formed on the makeup artist's forehead. Isabella's overfilled face was uneven, with dark circles under her eyes. Heavy makeup was the only way to cover the flaws.
"Miss Valentine, your current skin condition—"
"Shut up!" Isabella grabbed a compact and hurled it. "Are you calling me ugly?"
Her agent, Jessica, quickly intervened, whispering, "Isabella, walls have ears. We just suppressed that bullying scandal. We can't afford another incident."
Isabella sneered. "What's there to fear? The Roscentes are my shield."
She glared at her swollen reflection, fury boiling inside. Sophia Lowell and Vivian Ashcroft were to blame for this!
Jessica expertly massaged her temples. "The new drama is about to air. We can't ruin your innocent persona."
Isabella reluctantly reined in her temper and shot the makeup artist a sidelong glance. "Do it again. If you mess up, I'll make sure you never work in this industry again."
The makeup artist picked up her brush with shaking hands.
Outside in the hallway, Vivian frowned at the stream of curses coming from inside.
"Please use the fifth-floor makeup room," a bodyguard blocked her path.
Vivian scoffed. "Did she buy out the entire floor?"
The bodyguard smirked. "This studio is funded by the Roscentes. Miss Valentine can use any space she wants. Even the director has to bow to her."
"How impressive." Vivian raised her voice deliberately. "Let's see if the Roscentes can control everything!"
Her words carried clearly into the makeup room. Isabella shot to her feet, sending a foundation case crashing to the floor, where it split in two.
