Chapter 477

The Shadow Network of Z City existed like phantoms.

They lurked in the darkest corners of the metropolis, leaving no trace of their movements. For years, various factions had tried to infiltrate them—yet none had found a way in.

The Black Web once went to great lengths to plant an assassin among them.

That assassin, codenamed Venom, died under mysterious circumstances during a mission in the West. The case remained unsolved to this day.

Joining the Shadow Network was harder than reaching the heavens.

They demanded no pledges of loyalty. They left no clues behind. The last time they surfaced was when Young Master Xue of the Xue Corporation traded classified intel for their aid.

The Lord of Star City once offered them a fortune for protection—and was refused.

Now, the Jiang family faced the same dilemma.

Inside the banquet hall, Bai Huan paced anxiously.

His inside man had gone silent. The sudden radio silence told him the plan might be compromised. His fingers brushed the remote in his pocket. He was ready to gamble everything.

"Sir, the ceremony isn't over yet." The guard at the door blocked his path.

Bai Huan forced calm into his voice. "My uncle was hospitalized. I need to see him."

The guard didn't budge.

Bai Huan measured the distance between them. Then he turned abruptly and pressed the detonator, squeezing his eyes shut as he braced for the blast.

No one noticed Yan Zhenyu had already slipped away.

In the nursing room, Xing Wanye cradled her twins. She'd refused all social obligations, waiting only for Yan Zhenyu's return.

"Where are Grandpa and Grandma?"

"Mr. Yan has arranged everything. They're with Elder Jiang," the bodyguard answered respectfully.

Lu Sheng stood sentry by the door, statue-still. "I'll protect you."

An Kexia gently stroked her pregnant belly. Nan Gongzi had just checked on them. The air in the room was thick with tension.

Then Gu Xiaonuan pushed the door open. "Are you rehearsing a silent play? Come out and eat!"

"Is it safe outside?" An Kexia asked.

"Perfectly safe. Wanye, your Yan is back," Gu Nuanxi said with a smile.

Xing Wanye shook her head. "I'll stay with the children."

Jiang Chenzhao stood at the center of the banquet hall.

Suddenly, Little Tiger darted over and tugged his sleeve, whispering urgently.

"Dad, I found a huge secret!" Jiang Tianzhi rattled off a string of numbers.

Jiang Chenzhao's gaze sharpened. He crouched to meet his son's eyes. "Are you sure?"

"Tiger swears on his honor!" The little boy thumped his chest.
