Chapter 341

At the start of the semester, Dylan Langley had pursued Sophia Lowell relentlessly, only to be gently rejected.

He turned hostile on the spot, sneering, "You'll regret this."

Sophia brushed it off. Since their paths rarely crossed, she soon forgot about the incident.

She never expected him to stab her in the back at a critical moment.

Margaret Kemnis couldn't stand his smug expression. Deliberately, she remarked, "You've got spinach stuck in your teeth."

Dylan frantically checked his phone camera, only to realize he'd been tricked. His face darkened with fury.

"That woman is nothing but bad luck!" He jabbed a finger at Sophia. "Anyone close to her ends up ruined. You'd better stay away unless you want to lose your job."

Margaret scoffed. "Who are you trying to scare? My husband would love nothing more than for me to quit and be a lady of leisure. At least I wouldn’t have to put up with certain disgusting people here."

Her wealthy background gave her words undeniable weight.

Dylan deflated instantly. Then he turned to Sophia with a sleazy grin. "It’s not too late to change your mind. Be my girlfriend, and I’ll put in a good word with the dean. You might just keep your position."

Disgusted, Sophia wrinkled her nose and tugged Margaret away.

"Everyone knows he only got his permanent position through connections," Margaret whispered. "But no one dares cross his powerful backers."

Sophia pressed her lips together and nodded.

"If you fail the internship evaluation at month-end, you’re out," Margaret fretted. "Why not ask Professor Orlando for help? He has the dean’s ear."

"No." Sophia shook her head. "I’ve already owed him too many favors."

Margaret sighed. "You’re too proud for your own good. Take a page from Dylan’s book—thicken your skin a little."

"I’d rather stay true to myself," Sophia said with a light laugh.

After afternoon classes, Sophia headed straight to the dean’s office.

Even if the odds were slim, she would fight for herself one last time.
