Chapter 307
"I wouldn't dare say you're wrong. Miss Sophia Lowell is always right." Ethan Roscente's lips curled into a mocking smirk. "Too bad. Even if you think I'm worthless, this weed isn't letting go of you."
He suddenly leaned in, his warm breath brushing her ear. "You're the one who keeps pulling me back. Don't even think about shaking me off—not in this lifetime."
The customers in the café, who had been whispering about Sophia, now wore knowing smiles.
Sophia: "..."
Tiffany Roscente had been hiding in the corner like a frightened quail, but she suddenly jumped up. "Uncle! She just humiliated you!"
"None of your business." Ethan's gaze turned icy. "Seems like last time wasn't enough of a lesson."
He snapped his fingers, and Zachary Evans appeared instantly.
"Take her back and teach her some manners." Ethan's voice was frigid. "If she can't learn, don't let her out."
Tiffany paled, remembering the horror of being locked in the basement last time. She screamed and begged, but Zachary dragged her away without hesitation.
Ethan checked his watch and crooked a finger at Sophia. "Come here."
Sebastian Valdemar immediately stepped between them. "Mr. Roscente, my junior still has—"
"Get lost." Ethan's glare was sharp as a blade. "Don't interfere."
Sophia pushed Sebastian aside, her expression cold. "My senior and I still have things to discuss."
Ethan's eyes darkened. He let out a cold laugh. "Fine, Sophia. You’ve got spine."
Outside the café, Zachary had just sent Tiffany away when he saw his boss storm out, radiating fury.
"Mr. Roscente, the breakfast—" Zachary hurried after him, holding a paper bag.
"Throw it away." Ethan didn’t even look back. "I'd rather feed it to dogs than give it to her!"
Fuming, he suddenly turned, snatched the bag, and hurled it into the trash bin. "Ungrateful wretch!"
Inside, Sebastian looked at Sophia with concern. "Are you okay?"
"What’s there to worry about?" Sophia shrugged. "Tiffany causing trouble isn’t new."
"It's my fault for dragging you into this..."
"Not your problem." She checked the time. "I was going to treat you to breakfast, but I guess it’ll have to wait."
Her gaze drifted to the window, where Ethan’s furious retreating figure was disappearing. A faint smile tugged at her lips.
