Chapter 419
Jason Roscente stood frozen at the base of the apartment complex, as if struck by lightning.
His gaze locked onto Sophia Lowell's slightly rounded abdomen, pupils contracting violently.
"You—" His voice trembled as his finger jerked toward her stomach.
Sophia's face paled. Instinctively shielding her belly, she grabbed Jason's arm with icy fingers.
"Upstairs. Now." Her whisper was sharp.
Vivian Ashcroft came barreling from the parcel lockers and kicked Jason square in the shin.
"What the hell are you doing here?" she hissed through clenched teeth.
Jason grimaced in pain but kept staring at Sophia's stomach.
"I looked for you all day." His puppy-dog eyes turned to Vivian. "You ignored my calls and texts..."
He'd planned to surprise her on set, only to find she wasn't there. Remembering Sophia was Vivian's closest friend, he'd come straight here.
Never expecting to stumble upon this secret.
Jason's mind reeled.
Sophia was pregnant.
Whose child was it?
The answer was obvious.
He stole another glance at her abdomen before quickly looking away.
Does Uncle Ethan know?
He couldn't.
Otherwise, why would he let Sophia return to Seattle alone while he calmly went on a business trip?
"Keep staring and I'll gouge your eyes out!" Vivian snarled.
Jason ducked his head and obediently scrambled to gather the scattered packages.
The living room air hung thick with tension.
Sophia handed Jason a glass of water, her fingers shaking slightly.
Vivian sauntered over with coconut water, her demeanor suddenly sugary sweet.
"Jason darling~" She pressed the bottle to his lips. "Try this?"
Jason stiffened.
When had this woman ever been nice to him?
Half his body went numb.
He sat ramrod straight, Adam's apple bobbing.
"You two..." He swallowed hard. "Don't want me telling Uncle Ethan?"
Vivian's smile vanished.
She locked him in a chokehold with terrifying strength.
"Smart boy." Her laugh was cold. "So—will you talk, or stay quiet?"
Jason's face turned crimson as he frantically slapped at her arm.
"L-let go..." he wheezed.
Sophia rushed forward. "Vivian, don't kill him!"
Vivian loosened her grip slightly but maintained her hold.
"Last chance." She narrowed her eyes. "What's your choice?"
