Chapter 141
The emergency room doors swung open abruptly as the doctor removed his mask and stepped out.
"Family of Theodore Orlando?"
Sophia Lowell quickly supported Vivian Valdemar as they approached.
"I'm his daughter. How is my father?"
The doctor wiped his brow. "He fainted due to a sudden spike in blood pressure but is stable now. We recommend overnight observation."
When the nurses wheeled out the hospital bed, Theodore was already conscious.
Sebastian Valdemar pulled Sophia aside into a corridor corner.
"About last night..." He hesitated.
Sophia instinctively shielded her abdomen. "It's over."
Sebastian's gaze dropped to her hands. "Is the child Ethan Roscente's?"
She bit her lip and nodded.
"Does he know?"
"He never will." Her voice was barely audible. "This is my child."
After a pause, Sebastian spoke softly. "I'll keep your secret."
Sophia looked up in surprise.
"I trust you have your reasons." His eyes were gentle. "Come to me if you need help."
Her eyes stung. Finding understanding at such a moment felt like a miracle.
"Should you get checked?" Sebastian asked with concern. "After last night's ordeal..."
"I was just heading there." She glanced toward the hospital room. "Stay with the professor."
The maternity ward was on the second floor.
The test results were normal. Sophia exhaled in relief.
As she stepped out of the examination room, a familiar voice carried down the hallway.
"Isn't that Professor Lowell?"
Felix Roland stood with his new girlfriend, gaping at the maternity ward sign.
His girlfriend asked curiously, "Is the professor married?"
"Holy—!" Felix yanked out his phone. "Ethan's gonna be a dad?!"
