Chapter 486

Isabella finally understood why Alexander had rushed off yesterday.

It was because of Victoria.

She had long grown accustomed to how much he prioritized Victoria.

She knew Genevieve's words were deliberately meant for her ears.

Her expression remained neutral as she walked past them.

She entered the elevator first.

The button she pressed revealed her destination.

Genevieve, Diana, and the others realized she was visiting Eleanor.

They knew about Eleanor's illness.

They hadn't personally visited the hospital yet.

But they were aware she was staying here.

They had secretly inquired about her room number the previous night.

Seeing Isabella's chosen floor confirmed their suspicions.

The Kensingtons and the Shaws had never actually met Eleanor.

They had obtained her room number through discreet means.

But they hesitated to barge in uninvited.

They feared offending the powerful matriarch.

Now they watched Isabella visit so casually.

Lilian and Patricia immediately felt resentment.

Genevieve shot Isabella a venomous glare.

Other people occupied the elevator.

She restrained herself from making a scene.

Once they stepped out, she ground her teeth.

"She's about to divorce Alexander yet still clings to Mrs. Whitmore Senior."

"Utterly shameless."

Then another thought struck her.

"She's cozying up to Mrs. Whitmore Senior to sabotage things."

"She wants to turn Alexander's family against Victoria."

Lilian and Patricia shared the same suspicion.

They recalled how the Whitmores still refused to let Alexander bring Victoria for visits.

Despite Eleanor's grave condition.

Lilian's gaze turned icy cold.

Meanwhile, Eleanor had just finished her medical check-up.

She felt overjoyed to see Isabella arrive.

They chatted warmly while Isabella arranged the flowers.

She placed them in a vase on the small round table by the window.

Once finished, she glanced down at the parking lot.

She spotted Alexander below.

She only looked for a moment before withdrawing her gaze.

She sat back down beside Eleanor to continue their conversation.

Eleanor's spirits remained low despite her hospitalization.

Visitors came regularly but she still felt bored.

Seeing Isabella lifted her mood considerably.

Noticing this, Isabella decided to stay longer.

Eleanor knew Isabella had work commitments.

Though reluctant, after nearly half an hour she spoke.

"Isabella, I won't keep you from your work."

"Please visit me again when you have time."

Isabella checked the time.

It was indeed getting late.

She was about to agree when the door opened.

She turned to see Alexander entering.

She realized he'd probably been at the hospital for half an hour already.

Yet he only now came to see Eleanor.

Thinking of Victoria in a ward downstairs, she understood perfectly.

She was about to look away when he greeted her.

"You're here."

Isabella responded with a faint hum.

She turned back to bid farewell to Eleanor.

Alexander asked, "Leaving so soon?"

Eleanor snorted. "Soon?"

"Isabella has been here over half an hour already."

"Do you think she's like you, always showing up this late?"

Isabella didn't reply to him.

After saying goodbye again to Eleanor, she turned to leave.

Just before exiting completely, she heard Eleanor speak to Alexander.

"Good thing Isabella stayed to chat with me."

"Now that you're here, you can keep me company too."

Then she heard Alexander's response as she left.

"I'm leaving on a business trip shortly."

"I need to head to the airport in a few minutes."

So he had time for Victoria but not for Eleanor.

It wasn't that he didn't care.

Having known him for years, Isabella knew he deeply cared for his grandmother.

But in his limited free time, most went to Victoria.

Because he cared deeply for her too.
