Chapter 240
Isabella and Margaret walked toward their parked car.
Just as Isabella reached for the door handle, Victoria stepped out from a nearby vehicle.
"So she's still here," Margaret remarked, giving Victoria a brief glance before looking away.
Isabella had assumed her grandmother hadn't noticed Victoria earlier, but clearly she had.
As they watched Alexander approach Victoria, Margaret seemed to recall how he'd left the hospital room for over thirty minutes earlier.
"They seem quite close," Margaret observed.
Isabella secured Margaret's seatbelt without comment.
As she started the engine, she spotted Henry rushing out of the hospital entrance.
He must have just noticed Victoria - his expression was a mix of shock and excitement as he hurried toward them. Isabella took one last look before driving away.
"Alex!" Henry called out, his eyes locked on Victoria. "You're... you're really VC! I thought I was imagining things!"
Victoria knew Alexander had a younger brother in high school, though they'd never met.
Henry's reaction confirmed his identity.
Before she could speak, Henry continued excitedly, "VC, hi! I'm your biggest fan! I even attended your last race in person!"
"That overtaking move you pulled at the three-minute-three-second mark? Absolute legend material! I've watched the replay at least fifty times - it never gets old!"
He stopped mid-sentence when he noticed Alexander's raised eyebrow.
Though Alexander didn't interrupt, Henry caught himself and suddenly realized something.
"Wait... Alex... you know my idol?"
Alexander ignored the question. "Is that a problem?"
"N-no problem."
Henry wasn't entirely surprised. His brother moved in influential circles - knowing VC wasn't completely unexpected.
"Why are you back down so soon?" Alexander asked.
Henry slapped his forehead. "Right! Almost forgot why I came down." He checked his watch. "Damn, is it that late already?"
He started backing toward another car. "Alex, VC, I gotta run-"
Halfway there, he suddenly turned back, cheeks flushing as he looked at Victoria hopefully.
"Um... VC, could I follow you on Instagram?"
Before she could answer, he quickly added, "I promise I won't spam you!"
Victoria smiled. "Sure."
Henry beamed, immediately pulling out his phone to send the request.
About to leave again, he suddenly spun back around. "Wait! Could I get an autograph?"
"Of course, but you-"
Alexander cut in. "Handle your business first. I'll bring your autograph later."
Henry grinned in relief. "Thanks, Alex!" With that, he finally dashed off.
Though Alexander rarely involved himself in Henry's affairs, Henry had always assumed his brother disapproved of his fandom. The quick agreement surprised him.
Maybe it was because VC was Alexander's friend, and therefore worthy of admiration?
