Chapter 323

After dinner, Sophia mentioned something that made Isabella realize Alexander was away on a business trip.

At around 9:00 pm, while Isabella was showering, her phone rang.

Sophia saw Julian's name flashing on the screen and answered. "Mr. Montgomery."

Hearing her voice, Julian paused briefly. "Sophia."

Before Sophia could continue, Isabella stepped out of the bathroom. Seeing her, Sophia handed over the phone. "Mom, it's Mr. Montgomery."

"Okay." Isabella took the phone, but Julian spoke first. "I hope I'm not interrupting?"

"Not at all."

Julian's voice was calm. "I'm currently out of town, so we'll need to postpone our dinner plans."

"That's fine."

After hanging up, Isabella reached for her towel when she noticed Sophia's curious stare.

"What is it?" Isabella asked.

"Mom, you know Mr. Montgomery too?"

"Yes."

"Oh."

The next morning, Isabella went downstairs to prepare breakfast.

About thirty minutes later, as she returned upstairs, she found Sophia on the phone. The girl immediately rushed over. "Mom, it's Dad."

Isabella took the receiver. "What is it?"

"My return got delayed until Wednesday. Sophia probably won't want to leave the Sinclair residence until then. Could you look after her these next few days?"

Isabella pressed her lips together in silence before ending the call.

On Monday, after dropping Sophia at kindergarten, Isabella headed to work.

A major project deadline loomed, making the entire week chaotic. She often worked past midnight, returning home exhausted.

Though Sophia stayed at the Sinclair residence, their only conversations happened during rushed morning routines.

On Thursday afternoon, Sophia called to announce Alexander's return. That same day after school, she went straight back to the Whitmore estate.

On Saturday, Isabella met Julian and Lily at Sunshine Park.

Seeing her, Julian remarked, "It's been a while."

"Has it?" Isabella hadn't particularly noticed.

Julian studied her face, hesitating before speaking. "You know TechNova has multiple shareholders, correct?"

"Mhm."

"Alexander wants to buy out my shares, along with Oliver's and others', to give to—" He didn't finish, but Isabella immediately knew—Victoria.

She'd witnessed Alexander's indulgence toward Victoria at TechNova firsthand.

She'd once joked he might as well rename the company Kensington Corp. She never imagined he'd actually consider such a move.

TechNova, though relatively new, was valued in the billions. His generosity knew no bounds.

Julian added, "Oliver and I agreed."

"Mhm." She wasn't surprised.

Julian, Oliver, and Alexander had been inseparable since childhood. Their bond explained their compliance.

Julian brought this up because TechNova's ownership change would affect YodaVision's business dealings.

He knew how deeply Isabella had once loved Alexander.

Before learning about Nathaniel, he'd believed she'd moved on. Now, he wasn't so sure.
