Chapter 106
Isabella spotted Sophia heading out with her suitcase. "Mom?"
"Hmm?" Isabella snapped out of her thoughts, shutting the door behind her. "Work calls. I'm leaving first. Stay here with your father."
Sophia nodded eagerly. "Got it, Mom."
Dragging her luggage downstairs, Isabella nearly collided with Alexander and Victoria in the lobby.
Seeing her departure, Alexander simply asked, "Leaving?"
"Yes." Her reply was ice-cold.
"Did you arrange transportation?"
"I did."
He made no move to stop her. "Very well."
Without another word, Isabella exited the building and disappeared into a waiting car.
Oliver woke unusually early that day.
At lunch with Alexander and the others, he suggested, "Why don't you invite her down?" Clearly referring to Isabella.
Alexander remained impassive. "No need. She's already gone."
Oliver's eyebrows shot up. "Gone?"
Julian paused mid-bite.
"Work commitments," Alexander explained, knowing full well about Nathaniel rejecting Victoria because of Isabella's position at YodaVision.
Oliver remembered Alexander's excuse last night about Isabella being too busy for dinner. He chuckled darkly. "Busy yesterday, busy today—how convenient."
As if YodaVision would collapse without her.
Everyone knew she'd gotten the position through connections. Neither particularly competent nor a major shareholder.
Such a transparent excuse. Pathetic, really. Oliver couldn't even muster a response.
Victoria caught the implication, lowering her head to hide her smirk.
Meanwhile, Isabella worked tirelessly at YodaVision until nightfall.
After two exhausting days, she finally prepared to leave when her uncle Charles called.
Thirty minutes later, she arrived at the Sinclair residence.
Charles and his wife Caroline were there with their sons William and Edward.
Isabella greeted them warmly.
Edward asked, "Where's Sophia? Didn't you say she's back? Why isn't she joining us?"
"She's still at the hot springs."
Assuming Sophia was with Alexander, Edward didn't press further.
Before entering, Isabella's gaze lingered on the villa across the street.
If only she'd brought the keys from her hot springs trip. She could've begun erasing all traces of the Kensington family and started renovations...
Charles and Caroline had been planning Margaret's birthday celebration.
They'd summoned Isabella not just for input, but with a specific task.
"These invitations are for the Whitmores and Victoria," Charles said. "Make time to deliver them this week."
Isabella hesitated before accepting. "Understood."
After dinner, she chatted with Margaret and Charles until nine.
As she prepared to leave, Margaret escorted her out, squeezing her hand. "If the Whitmores decline, don't insist. Their presence means nothing to me!"
